PeakPro is the main product of Soform.
PeakPro is a unique PC program that allows for fully
automated measurement of reactivity of thermoset resins, e.g. unsaturated
polyesters, based on temperature recording during curing under controlled
conditions, using state-of-the-art data acquisition hardware build into
a PC.
Finally you can get rid of paper recorders and measuring
the length of a piece of paper! And how many expensive thermocouples have
been destroyed because they were beaten into pieces, after getting stucked
into a cured sample. That can be avoided by using PeakPro, which gives
an audio alarm immediately after detection of a peak during curing.
The PeakPro system was designed in close co-operation
with and at Europe's leading supplier of unsaturated polyester resins,
DSM Composite Resins. Based on input of the actual users, both in Polyester
Production Plants and in R&D environments, it fulfils all needs, from
an alarm signal when a peak has been detected, which allows for unattended
measurements, to SPC on the measurement data of a product, including Cp
and Cpk values. Flexible data analysis, comparison of different batches,
an aid for reactivity adjustment of a batch of material, etc.
The system has been introduced at all the plants and
R&D labs of DSM Composite Resins in Europe, and functions already
for years very successfully.
Up to 14 different tests can be started independently, each with a different
product, according different methods, including information on batch,
operator, curing mixture, etc.
The flexible set-up of the program allows for creation of an unlimited
number of measurement methods, either according national and international
standards like ASTM, DIN or ISO, or customer-created methods.
Different types of thermocouples can be connected and configured in the
system. Automatic temperature corrections based on calibration of the
thermocouples is supported.
A product list can be created in the system, with a default
measurement method and specifications for parameters like gel time, peak
time and peak temperature added. These specs are then plotted in the graph
during the test. Thus it is possible to monitor graphically in real time
whether a product meets the specifications or not.
The essential principle of the software is that the screen
looks like the front panel of an instrument. The user does not have to
deal with complex menus, but instead has to simply push buttons on the
screen to get things going. This makes the operation very easy, and any
person can quickly understand the operating procedure.
Below you see a screenshot of the PeakPro main screen.
For the operator, it is easy to determine whether the measurement is in
spec, due to the graphical display of the sample specifications. If the
measured points for geltime and peaktime/temperature are within the boundaries,
the sample is in spec.
